A American border officer has stated under oath he could sense through his ballistic vest the force of a sandwich thrown at him by a DC demonstrator, who has faced court proceedings for criminal charge.

Immigration and customs agent the government official informed the court panel the sandwich "shattered all over him" and he "could smell the vegetables and yellow sauce" on his official attire.

No party disputes that Sean Dunn, thirty-seven, did in fact lob profanities and a deli-style sandwich at law enforcement sent by the former president to monitor the nation's capital in late summer.

The occurrence was filmed on recording and spread across the internet, making Mr Dunn a figure of protest in the capital to Trump.

Government prosecutors originally tried to achieve major offense allegations against Mr Dunn, but a legal panel chose not to indict him.

The administration's deployment of armed forces to Washington DC this warmer months sparked anger from some of the city's residents, who viewed it as a political use of the military.

Per court papers, the accused came near a law enforcement team at about 23:00 on August 10, describing them "fascists" and yelling: "Why are you present? Your presence is unwanted in my city!"

The legal proceeding witnessed a re-enactment from the officer on Tuesday as he gave evidence against the accused.

"I detected it through my ballistic vest," he stated of the sandwich's impact, adding that an vegetable piece dangled from his official equipment and condiment discolored his clothing.

The defendant's legal counsel, his legal representative, said in her initial argument that launching the sandwich was a "harmless gesture that did not, could not, create physical damage".

But government attorney John Parron argued the defendant must be facing consequences.

"Regardless of identity, you can't just go around launching items at others because you're mad," the prosecutor stated.

Subsequent to the reported incident became public, Mr Dunn was terminated from his employment as a paralegal in the Department of Justice.
