Check out Twenty-Nine New Game Cards from Magic's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Set (Including a Commander Precon Deck!)
The world's favorite pizza-eating heroes are making their way to Magic: The Gathering. The popular trading card game's company, Wizards of the Coast, announced a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration at a exclusive panel hosted at New York Comic Con. Could this be a radical addition or yet another Universes Beyond marketing move? Let you be the judge.
Take a look here at all the details revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, including key context. All items mentioned here releases on March 6th, 2026, except for one item — a special Pizza Bundle drops a couple of weeks after on March 27th.
MTG x TMNT: Main Set Reveals
Before diving into all the various unique products and bundles on offer, we’ll examine at the full lineup from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion that were revealed by Wizards. Play boosters for the set are set at $6.99 each, while premium boosters should run $37.99 per booster.
Let's unpack a few shell-shocking details. First, there's a new mechanic named Sneak, inspired by the pre-existing Ninjutsu, in which players can cheat big creatures onto the game field whenever an attacking creature isn’t blocked. The big difference here is that Sneak can apply to spells that aren’t creatures as well. The designers also used this chance to clean up the mechanic a bit (It is treated as playing a spell, as opposed to Ninjutsu). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but chances are players will encounter Sneak in future sets moving forward.
“If we ever were to return to Kamigawa, it’s possible we’d use the original ability since that's where it was developed and it’s a hallmark of that world,” an experienced game designer stated. “But on other planes, because the mechanics are smoother and the new ability will be in standard, it's more likely that we'd use the updated version.”
Another version of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai card, is among four special cards with unique artwork designed specifically for the set by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles original artist the co-creator.
Additionally, should you be surprised by the card text on Turtles Forever card, which allows playing game cards that aren't in your main deck, so was I. But according to Wizards, that's now a official card in every format of Magic.
Anyway, below are the highly unusual land cards with full art from this set:
Following the company’s existing guidelines, these cards are all legal in Magic’s Standard play. The designers say they were careful to ensure the cards and mechanics meshed well with other Standard sets like Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the development for 15 months and we knew it was going to be in standard and what other sets were going to be near it in standard,” a lead designer commented. “Our goal was to ensure that there's synergy with certain expansions like Edge of Eternities.”
As an instance, both TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red archetype focused on artifacts.
“They mesh together to offer the components for a enjoyable Standard deck,” he added.
Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power!
After declining to design any pre-constructed Commander decks for Spider-Man and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, Wizards is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only one precon, but it does come with six different legendary cards who could work as your Commander based on how you pair them (five of the cards include a unique partner ability called “Character Select” that lets you start with two of them in the command zone rather than just one). Check them out below:
The Turtle Power precon is priced at $69.99, although the price may rise due to popularity. Sources indicated that it contains 43 new cards altogether, which means an extra thirty-seven Turtle-themed game cards besides the six legendary commanders shown above. (Calculating roughly, that also means about 20 reprints if we estimate the deck comes with 37 lands.)
What will the TMNT edition of the iconic Sol Ring appear? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
Standard Bundle (Regular)
As per usual, Wizards is offering a bundle. It costs $69.99 and contains the listed items:
- 9 Standard Boosters
- Fifteen Traditional foil basic lands
- 15 Non-foil land cards
- 2 Reference cards
- 1 Traditional foil promo card
- 1 Large spindown life counter
- 1 Card-storage box
Pizza-Themed Bundle
This is a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, primarily because it comes in a box resembling a pizza delivery box. Each Pizza Bundle costs $99.99 and comes with the items below:
- 9 Standard Boosters
- One Collector Booster
- 25 Regular pizza-themed lands
- 5 Traditional foil pizza-themed lands
- Two Foil Pizza Bundle promotional cards
- Two helper cards
- One Oversized life tracker
- One storage box
For those curious what a “pizza bundle promo” means, it’s essentially a reprint of an older card featuring brand-new Turtle-themed artwork. Wizards revealed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual depicting master Splinter adding toppings on a pizza. In total, there are six distinct Pizza Bundle promo cards available.
The Pizza Bundle releases a couple of weeks later than the core set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Bundle
This special bundle is designed for a four-player draft and costs $119.99. It includes:
- 12 Standard Boosters (ideal for a group of four to draft)
- One Premium Booster (also known as, the prize for coming in first)
- 90 Regular land cards (for building your draft deck)
- 10 Non-foil double-sided tokens
- 1 Draft insert (a single-page guide to drafting the set)
Cooperative Play Set
Lastly, Wizards are introducing a new concept with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its ongoing effort to develop Magic game products aimed at beginners. In this case, Turtle Team-Up is a special set of prebuilt decks that allow two players join forces against a “Boss” enemy deck that pilots itself.
The general idea is that every Boss card grants special abilities to the creature cards contained in the Boss deck. The Boss automatically casts an additional card per turn, and you’ll start off fighting {one Boss|
